We are looking to recruit bank ambulance drivers for our Dorchester operation.

Working as an Ambulance Patient Transport service (PTS) driver, you will drive disabled, elderly and vulnerable people to and from outpatient clinics and routine hospital admissions.

Based at our Bournemouth depot you will cover a particular geographical area and work on a variable shift pattern. You may be part of a two-person team using a specially designed ambulance with a tail-lift for wheelchairs, carrying several people on each journey. Alternatively, you may be working on your own driving a standard car to transport one or two able-bodied people at a time.

As well as driving duties, you will also lift and move some patients in and out of the vehicles and ensure that the patients are transported safely and comfortable during the journey and that they arrive for their appointments on time.

Full training will be provided in resuscitation and patient care. Other duties include making sure that the vehicle is kept clean and tidy.

Applicants must hold a full driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points and undertake an enhanced CRB disclosure check.

 A number of opportunities have now arisen for Bank Ambulance Care Assistants within our Patient Transport Service based in Portsmouth, where you will transport non-emergency patients to and from hospital appointments within the Portsmouth and surrounding area. As a member of our bank staff, you must be able to offer flexible working and an availability to undertake some duties at very short notice and as the need arises.

As a PTS Driver, you will assist patients through the use of medical equipment and other interventions appropriate to the level of training provided. You will also be required to assist patients with limited mobility by lifting, carrying and transferring them.

You will need to demonstrate the ability to effectively handle sensitive situations and have a caring and professional nature. Experience of working with the general public and the ability to work as part of a team are essential, along with strong communication skills.

For these positions you will need to be flexible, self-motivated and well disciplined, as well as being physically fit to undertake manual handling duties. As an excellent team player, you will be capable of supporting your colleagues and be committed to the success of the organisation.
