E-zec Medical has recently been awarded the High Dependency Transport contract for University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM). The contract is to supply the University Hospitals of North Midlands with a dedicated High Dependency ambulance service.
UHNM is a Major Trauma Centre serving the North Midlands area with Critical Care departments. Within the hospital it holds 40 critical care beds and highly trained critical care teams. To support the trust, their needs are to provide a service for patients transferring in an ambulance to and from their facilities. E-zec’s contract is to supply vehicles equipped to A&E specification and employ staff trained to HD and Paramedic level, all dedicated to the 24/7 service.
Patients using the service will be some of the sickest people, undergoing major surgery, or an urgent MRI scan, at their retrospective hospitals. This includes, ill ‘stable’ and ill ‘unstable patients’, with response times as little as 10 minutes. Patients will be transferred by our staff, and when required, a clinical team from the hospital will attend. Journeys could be anywhere within the UK.
E-zec is proud to be re-awarded this service, as it was successfully operated by E-zec from 2006 – 2013. Unfortunately it was awarded to a competitor in 2013 due to the commercial element of the contract.
The service is a very good addition to the Staffordshire PTS contract operated by E-zec, and further underpins our presence within the area.
