Since the service started in October 2016, the local Somerset management team have worked with hospital staff to strategically place patient transport liaison officers (PTLOs) in selected hospitals, where discharge activity is high. Our PTLOs have worked alongside healthcare teams to adopt a proactive approach to patient flow in hospitals, preventing patient’s blocking beds. This partnership approach, enables the E-zec control and dispatch teams to utilise the Somerset resources to full capacity.
Patient Transport Manager at Musgrove Park Hospital commented:
I would like to take this opportunity to pass on my personal thanks and no doubt those of the hospital in general to the PTLOs for their hard work. Whilst I appreciate that they are part of a very large wheel, they have worked tirelessly to ensure that the discharges go out on time. My thanks also should be passed on to the control room staff and crews who have supported them to maintain a very high level of “on time” discharges from Musgrove Park. They take a great deal of pride in their work, and I know that they are very well thought of on the wards, as they maintain a ‘regular’ daily contact with them.
They are very Pro-active in their roles and I believe our discharge figures ‘on-time’ will show that. Once again a big thank you to them and the rest of the team.
